fireWALL Dance Theater was established in 2013 as a theatrical, contemporary dance company under the artistic direction of Elisa-Marie Alaio. Over the past 9 years, Elisa has curated 12 full-length productions that have been recognized for breaking barriers and confronting social challenges. She decided to redirect her passion by opening a dance studio. Not only did Elisa open a drop in dance studio, she decided to ambitiously fight for her dreams in the middle of the world navigating the struggles of COVID-19. Through the consistent bumps in the road and pushing through a “slow start”.. here we are, 2 1/2 years later, successfully running a beautiful safe space for dancers of all levels and ages to share what they love to do. It has been a rewarding journey giving back to the Pittsburgh dance community and we are excited to see where it all will take us.
